The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has expressed concern on the postponement of the governorship election in Edo State by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), till September 28, 2016.

The group said the postponement by INEC showed that democracy is on trial in the country. It urged the electorates in the State to remain steadfast and peaceful in electing a new governor for the State.

The Northern Socio-cultural group had earlier commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), for upholding the earlier date of Saturday September 10, 2016, for the election before the shift in the date of the election

The ACF National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Muhammad Ibrahim called on all relevant stakeholders to join hands with INEC to ensure that the election is free, fair and credible.

“The security and all stakeholders should support INEC to ensure that the election is free, fair and credible election,” the group stressed.
