The General Overseer of The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, has called on youths to eschew vices and embrace opportunities to make Nigeria a better nation.

Speaking through his Special Assistant (Special Duties) and National Youth Leader, RCCG, Pastor Belemina Obunge, Adeboye expressed his passion for the youths whom he described as carriers of God’s glory who would bring honour to the nation and the church.

At the RCCG Camp, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, he unveiled the National Young Adults and Youth Convention 2016 with the theme “Vessels Unto Honour” holding from October 3 to 7, 2016.

He said the programme was focusing on preparing the youths as people of honour such that wherever they find themselves in life, they would be able to take their rightful place in the area of fulfilling their destiny.

In another development, Bishop of the Diocese of Ife, Church of Nigeria, (Anglican Communion), Rt. Rev. Olubunmi Akinlade, has urged the political class to stop adding to the problems of recession Nigeria is contending with and stop the ‘pull him down syndrome’ prevalent in their midst.

Akinlade said this at the second session of ninth synod of the Diocese of Ife with the theme “God our Guide” which took place at the Cathedral Church of St. Philips, Aiyetoro, Ile-Ife, Osun State. He noted that the ruling and opposition parties are always at each other’s throats leading to character assassination, instead of being partners in progress for the betterment of the country.

He reminded them that sooner or later, they would become history and therefore implored them to forget about individual differences and let the interest of the nation be uppermost in their minds. He also called on those that believe that it is when they have killed human beings that they would have dividends in heaven to have a rethink and stop claiming lives they cannot create.
