Aisha Buhari, others to commission cancer centre in Minna

Wife of the President, Mrs. Aisha Buhari and no fewer than 14 governors’ wives across the country are expected in Minna, Niger State today for the commissioning of a Cancer Screening Centre initiated by the wife of Niger State governor, Dr. Amina Abubakar Bello.

The occasion will also formally usher in the take-off of Raise Foundation, a reproductive, advocacy, safe spaces and empowerment pet project of the governor’s wife.

Press Secretary to Mrs. Bello in a statement in Minna said the devastating and colossal effect of the dreaded ailment of cancer, especially among women informed the establishment of the screening centre to enable early detection of the ailment and to provide treatment.

“Records have shown that cancer, especially the cervical cancer has led to early and untimely death of women in recent times. This is being occasioned by inadequate screening centre for early detection and treatment.
