Akwa Ibom police parade 12 suspected criminals, warn parents

Akwa Ibom State Police Command has called on parents in the state to ensure they show interest in what their children or wards do, as the command is determined to make the state un-conducive for criminals during this ember months.

Akwa Ibom State Police Command has called on parents in the state to ensure they show interest in what their children or wards do, as the command is determined to make the state un-conducive for criminals during this ember months.

This charge was given by the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Murtala Mani while parading 12 suspected criminals over kidnappings, armed robbery, rape and cultism.

Speaking through the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Command, Cordelia Nwawe, he said two young-men, who specialised in removing of solar energy batteries on the streets of the state had been arrested.

Again, a young man, who collected his friend vehicle to drive but later sold it to a buyer in Benue State, was among those been arrested.Another young man, Ibanga Solomon from Ini Local Council allegedly threatened to kidnap the Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Dr. Glory Edet was arrested.

Also, two persons who allegedly involved in the kidnap of a hotel owner in Abak Local Cuncil were among those arrested and paraded.He said one of the persons linked to the kidnap of the hotel owner was trailed to Rivers State and arrested at the point of going to withdraw money paid into his account as ransom.

The Police Commissioner cautioned those without legitimate duty to steer clear of the state as security operatives would continue to be proactive in the discharge of their duties.

“There is no room for people who carry arms or commit any form of criminality in the state. The anti-kidnapping section, Special Anti-robbery Squad (SARS) has been briefed in the task of riding the state of criminals”, he said.
