The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) yesterday read the riot act to all those fanning the embers of discord among the ranks of the party. Spokesperson of the party, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi warned that the APC would not hesitate to take appropriate action against any member whose utterances or behaviour are capable of jeopardizing on -going effort by the chief John Odigie-Oyegun-led national executive of the party to ensure a harmonious relationship amongst supporters of the party across the country.

Abdullahi who disclosed that the Odigie-Oyegun-led National Working Committee (NWC) will tomorrow meet with the party’s caucus in the Senate in line with its resolve to intervene in the rift between the executive arm and the National Assembly stressed that the APC would not support any member of the party or anyone appointed on its platform to disrespect the legislative institution.

The party’s leadership met with the House of Representatives APC caucus last week.

Abdullahi recalled that Odigie-Oyegun had used the opportunity to plead with the House of Representatives members to continue to support the President Muhammadu Buhari administration, even in the face of some of the expressed grievances, which may be considered as genuine.

Expressing happiness over the decision by President Muhammadu Buhari to set up a committee headed by the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo to re-examine the executive relationship with the National Assembly, he described the move as a step in the right direction, adding it underlines President Buhari’s recognition of the paramount importance of the legislative institution in a democracy.

Abdullahi who reiterated the party’s commitment to ensure that the relationship between the two critical arms of government improves further, commended the National Assembly leadership for its maturity and pre-disposition to have all the issues resolved as quickly as possible in the interest of the party and the nation as a whole.
