AREF marks World Refugee Day, honours Segun Olusola

As part of activities to mark the 2017 World Refugee Day, the Africa Refugee Foundation (AREF) held its 5th memorial remembrance for its founding president, late Segun Olusola, in Lagos.

As part of activities to mark the 2017 World Refugee Day, the Africa Refugee Foundation (AREF) held its 5th memorial remembrance for its founding president, late Segun Olusola, in Lagos.

Speaking at the event, Chief Executive Officer of National Commission for Refugees, Magaret Ukaegbu, stressed the need to embrace peace, and dialogue, to sort out problems. She commended AREF founder, Segun Olusola for the work done towards the enhancement of the lives of refugees.

She urged the general public and other stakeholders including the private sector to join hands with the government to restore the dignity of displaced persons and help in their reintegration into the society.

Some of the dignitaries in attendance included the National coordinator of Odua People’s Congress, Otunba Gani Adams, former foreign minister Senator Ike Nwachukwu, Tunde Ajijedidun, Adesegun AkinOlugbade, Christopher Kolade, Bolanle Akinyemi and Femi Agboola.

The chairman of the occasion, Christopher Kolade reflected on the lessons to be learnt from Olusola, describing him as a consummate art connoisseur and peace Ambassador.

The National coordinator of OPC, Otunba Gani Adams thanked the foundation for committing energy to the plight of refugees. He noted that the late Olusola was a mentor and a great man who impacted knowledge, promoted cultural interests and a pillar to his organization.
