A governorship aspirant from Nasarawa State on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Sen. Phillip Gyunka, yesterday said greed was responsible for the party’s loss in Nasarawa State in 2011 and 2015.

Speaking after submitting his governorship expression of interest and nomination forms, Sen. Gyunka, who represents Nasarawa North, appealed to the party leadership to avoid greed.

He disagreed with the idea of consensus, insisting that state police is the best option to address insecurity and killings across the country.

He noted that God is the only One that gives power.

On the issue of insecurity and killings across the country, especially in Nasarawa and its environs, Gyunka said: “The killings must be stopped, victimisation must be stopped. Security is paramount.

Our borders are porous. We can empower every state to protect itself by providing state police. I think I embrace that idea.

Today, Nigerians are being killed and when you complain, nothing happens. Prayer cannot resolve this. We must take action.”
