It was thanksgiving and praises galore last Sunday at the Shell Hall of the MUSON Centre, Onikan, as the faith-based NGO, Awesome Treasures Foundation (ATF) organized its annual Thanksgiving Service alongside the Awesome Awards to recognise Nigerians who have impacted lives in their chosen fields of endeavour.

The annual Awesome Awards, which held its inaugural edition in 2015, is a platform designed to recognize and celebrate accomplished individuals, who have displayed excellence in their chosen fields of endeavour and whose life and decisions have created ripple effects of change which has impacted many while displaying and living the values of the Lord’s Kingdom.

The award was alongside the annual Thanksgiving Service, which is always an all-out praise concert, a no-holds barred time to give thanks to the Almighty. The guest ministers were Tim Godfrey and the Xtreme Crew who led the audience in worship. Pastor Emmy Madubuko, Kenya’s most renowned international gospel artist, also rendered some of her award winning songs.

Mrs. Olajumoke Adenowo, Founder of ATF and Principal Partner, AD Consulting, an international multiple award-winning Architectural and Interior Architectural firm, emphasized the importance of giving thanks to God and the need to celebrate individuals who are displaying transformational leadership in their chosen field of endeavour.

This year’s winners include Mr. Chris Ubosi, Chief Executive Officer of Megalectrics Limited, operators of Classic FM, The Beat FM and Naija FM who won the Media Icon of the Year Award while the 2016 Esther Award went to Igwenwanyi Ngozi Achebe, the Igwenwanyi of Onitsha.

In the Creative Entrepreneur of the Year category, Ejiro Amos Tafiri, the CEO and Creative Director of Ejiro Amos Tafiri label, a fast growing brand on the Nigerian fashion scene emerged the winner.

Kemi Lala Akindoju, whose acting career exemplifies excellence and versatility in a variety of roles won the Actress of the Year award.

The Change Agent of the Year award went to Mrs. Ndidi Nwuneli, founder LEAP Africa, co-founder of AACE Food Processing & Distribution, for her outstanding contributions to the nation and for raising change agents among Nigerian youths.

Audu Maikori and Paul Ukeugo of the Chocolate City Group were also celebrated in the Music Entrepreneur of the Year Award category for their immense and outstanding contributions to the music industry. Mummy Fabunmi received Member of the Year for her outstanding contribution and dedication to the Foundation.

Some dignitaries and celebrities at the event include Mrs Osayi Alile –Executive Council member of WIMBIZ; Mrs. Olutola Omotola, Executive Director, Guaranty Trust Bank; Mr. Niyi Adeseun- Executive Director Heritage Bank; Mrs. Nimi Akinkugbe- CEO Bestman Games Limited, TY Bello, Justice Sola Williams and a host of others.

The dynamic singer and Editor, Off-Duty Magazine, BusinessDay, Kemi Ajumobi gracefully anchored the event.

It was indeed an awesome and colourful event as the ambience at Muson Centre was captivating and the audience enthused.
