Nigeria’s present economic woes have been linked to misplaced priority and government’s failure to carry professional bodies along in all its activities. Experts drawn from Association of Professional Bodies of Nigeria (APBN) at the formal admission of National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria (NIMN) into APBN made this known recently.

According to APBN president, Gabriel Fasoto, government needs to carry professionals along in all its activities. On his part, NIMN president, Ganiyu Koledoye said, “One of the major tasks of APBN is to ensure peace among professionals bodies and to represent us locally and internationally.”

On why it took the body 40 years before admitted to APBN he said, “We’ve not been able to join the body earlier because of some issues we had which we have thankfully put behind us and we are more than ready to move forward.”

On what professionals can do to help the country, the president said, “professionals have to be given the chance because function of the academia is to develop the theoretical competency of the people whereas professionals are to develop people vocationally to perform effectively in various endeavours
