President Muhammadu Buhari met with the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, and Sokoto State governor, Aminu Tambuwal, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, yesterday.

Dogara and Tambuwal drove into the Villa in the Speaker’s official vehicle and headed straight to the President’s office. They emerged 50 minutes later.

Both leaders, however, declined to speak to State House correspondents on their mission.

While Dogara kept mute, as newsmen sought to speak with him, Tambuwal evaded questions.

On whether the meeting was in connection with sundry issues emanating from the House of Representatives, Tambuwal answered: “Not at all.” Asked if the meeting focused on the current recession in the country and sale of national assets, the governor said: “I have already aired my views on the sale of assets.”

Asked again whether the meeting touched on clash between the national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former Lagos State governor, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, and APC national chairman, John Odigie-Oyegun, he replied: “I don’t know about that.”

He explained that they had come to the Villa to meet Buhari, “greet him and show our support.”
