President Muhammadu Buhari has tasked the military to rededicate itself to democracy in the country, by defending the nation’s unity and territorial integrity.

Buhari gave the charge during the passing out parade of the combined cadets of 64 and 65 regular courses of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), yesterday.

Represented by the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, the President said there is need for the military to engage all the forces of terrorism confronting the nation for reason of defending democracy and Nigeria’s territorial integrity.

He reminded the 689 officer cadets; that “the nation has offered you its best in training and will continue to do so and you have the obligation to commit yourself to the never-ending task of nation-building, especially at a time like this when our country is urgently in need of peace, unity and cohesion.”

The President urged the fresh cadets to join their senior colleagues in the field and contribute their quota to the defence of fatherland adding: “With the world-class training you have received in the Academy, I am convinced that you will discharge your duties professionally and responsibly, and that, in your hands, the future holds great promise for our national defence and security.”
