The Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media, Mallam Garba Shehu has assured that the President will break the jinx that has kept Ajaokuta steel in a perpetual non productive stage, as he assured that in a short while the ailing Iron and Steel Company will bounce back to boost the economy of the country.

Shehu who gave the indication in Lokoja at an event marking the 2nd democracy anniversary lecture organised by the Nigerian Union of Journalists, Kogi state chapter, said President Buhari will break the record. He noted that the presidency is committed to the resuscitation of the iron complex.

He reiterated that the president believes in a free press for an enduring democracy.
Shehu who was the guest speaker at the occasion, said with the advent of social media, many persons have become journalists overnight, saying despite that, the print media is still as strong as ever.

The National President of NUJ, Waheed Odusile commended governor Yahaya Bello for his efforts in tackling the menace of insecurity in the state, even as he reminded the governor to fulfill his pledge to rehabilitate NUJ Lokoja’s Lugard house and the provision of a vehicle for the union last year during the same event.
