Businesses resume in Hadejia LG after elections

Traders in Hadejia, Jigawa, are making brisk businesses after the general shut-down on Saturday for the presidential and National Assembly elections.

A correspondent of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), who visited the Hadejia market on Sunday, reports that commercial activities had picked up at the market.

It will be recalled that markets and other businesses were closed down while vehicular movement was restricted for the election.

Shops, canteens and eateries had opened for normal businesses while commercial vehicles were seen plying the roads.

A cross section of the residents, who spoke to NAN said they returned to their normal life after the election.

Alhaji Alkassim Bello, a trader, said he had recorded low sales due to low patronage.

Bello expressed the hope that the market condition would improve so that more people could come out to do some shopping.

Muhammad Bala, a resident, said that he went to the market and bought vegetables for his domestic needs.

Bala commended the people in the area for the peaceful conduct of the election.

NAN reports, however, that voting in the presidential and national assembly election was still going on in some centres in Malammadori, Guri and Kafin-Hausa local government areas.

Voting was effectively concluded at Hadejia and Kirikasamma local government areas.
