OVER 30 inmates of the Ikoyi Maximum Prisons gathered in the hall, awaiting members of the Elevation Church Prison Outreach Ministry. It was the launch of a skills -acquisition and empowerment programme in partnership with the existing 3R club (Reformation, Rehabilitation and Re-integration) in the prisons.

The ministry will ensure they provide raw materials for the inmates to mass-produce liquid soaps, which they (ministry) will ensure it is marketed and sold while its profits will be kept in account operated by the church for the inmates, which will be made available for them upon release or whenever they choose to access their funds.

Head of the outreach ministry, Mrs. Wuraola Keru noted that aimed of the outreach is to ensure that these inmates do not leave empty handed upon release so they can start up with life again. “Since they already had the 3R club, it was easier to fit in with the structure on ground and so we are partnering with them to start mass producing liquid soap and as time go on, we will extend to other products.”

Mrs. Keru however noted that inmates who indicated interests and were qualified psychologically to handle some of the toxic raw materials involved in the production of liquid soaps had a verification form filled out which indicated vital and secret information about them to help them access their monies when the time comes. .
