Church members urge compliance with court ruling on leadership crisis

THE leadership crisis rocking Christ Army Church (CAC) of Nigeria has continued unabated as some stakeholders in the church, under the aegis of Save CAC Group, last week called on some of the leaders, who have been parading themselves as leaders of the church, to desist from such acts, saying Most Rev. Ibibia Siri remains the bishop of the church.

The group presented a court ruling between Rev Can Tonye T. Omuaru and Siri as claimants and three other persons: Rt. Rev
A. S. Vurasi, Elder J.I. Koko and Sonny James as defendants where the court ruled that Siri is the duly “enthroned Archbishop” of the church.

The judgment, which was given in 2014, was instituted in Suit No. PHC/2130/2008 and delivered by Justice S. O. Iragunima, where it declared that: “The second claimant is duly consecrated and enthroned Archibshop of the CAC of Nigeria.”

“The first defendant is hereby restrained from conducting or parading himself as the Archbishop of the CAC of Nigeria.”

“An order of perpetual injunction be and is hereby granted restraining the defendants, their agents, privies, associates or howsoever, from presenting and putting forward the first defendant for the enthronement as Archbishop of the Christ Army Church of Nigeria.”

The claimants had gone to court to stop the enthronement of the first defendant as the archbishop of the church where they claimed that the synod of the church, which held at St Peters Church, Boji Boji, Agbor in Delta State on March 22, 2008 did not select the first defendant as the archbishop of the church.

They said the second and third defendants were members of the church but purportedly constituted themselves into an enthronement planning committee to install the first defendant as Archbishop of the church.
