The Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC) yesterday raided Enugu metropolis and environs, where it seized and destroyed broadcast facilities valued at over three million Naira.

The Commission said the facilities were being illegally used to transmit DSTV contents at a token fee. Mrs. Ngozi Okeke, Zonal Manager of the Commission told reporters that illegal distributors use the single unit dwelling (SUD) meant for private use to connect to other unsuspecting individuals and charge them monthly thereby causing a huge financial loss to DSTV.

She stated that the commission received complaints from DSTV that her contents were being illegally transmitted, adding that investigations conducted revealed that the illegal act was not carried out in Enugu metropolis alone.

She said no arrests were made, but added that her officers were on regular surveillance in the areas visited to forestall a repeat.
