A MEMBER of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Miss Yetunde Shukurat Idowu, of the 2014 Batch ‘B’ set in Kwara State was found dead on Sunday night in Ilorin, the state capital after she went to Shoprite on Saturday and she did not return home.

The Lagos-based corps member was a native of Ogun State and lived at Tanke along University Road, Ilorin.

Sources said that the NYSC member, who went to the South African-owned mega shopping mall along Fate Road, Ilorin on the fateful day must have been given a free ride by yet-to-be-identified driver but the police could not confirm this, saying they were still investigating.

The deceased’s corpse was found on Sunday night around GRA Ilorin, some 800 metres to the Shopping Mall. However, her family members have been contacted while her corpse would be released today on the insistence of the family.

The corps member until her death served with the state broadcasting corporation, Radio Kwara, Ilorin.

Speaking with reporters in Ilorin, the state’s police spokesman, Mr. Okasanmi Ajayi, DSP, noted: “We are still investigating. We cannot conclusively say it is a case of abduction or ritual killing because no part of the body was missing. It could be a case of a hit and run careless driver or an accident out-rightly.”

“I can’t confirm that she was raped because all the examinations conducted on her did not show any sign of rape and we are still investigating. I cannot say exactly what happened.”

Asked whether she was given a lift, he said: “All these are guess works, nobody has volunteered any statement to us, if anybody has any information, maybe they should get to us.”

“As far as we are concerned, it was a reported case of “found dead” with a broken skull and bruises for now. I can’t tell you whether it was a case of rape, abduction or kidnapping.”

Okasanmi said the corpse would be released today (yesterday) while investigation on it would continue.
