Delta reads riot act to politicians over assets declaration

The Delta State Government has given all political office holders still defaulting in the declaration of their assets one week to do so with the Code of Conduct Bureau as required by the law.

The Delta State Government has given all political office holders still defaulting in the declaration of their assets one week to do so with the Code of Conduct Bureau as required by the law.

In a statement in Asaba yesterday by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Ovie Festus, he said that the reminder had become necessary so as to enable such persons take advantage of the one week of grace given by the bureau to complete the processes their assets declaration and verification on or before 31st May, 2018.

The statement noted that the exercise would take place at the bureau’s office at the Federal Secretariat, Okpanam Road, Asaba.The scribe enjoined all concerned to take the exercise seriously warning that defaulters would be unduly exposing themselves to sanctions by the bureau.

Meanwhile, the Delta State Primary Health Care Development Agency has been commended for its dedication to duty.  Speaking yesterday in Asaba shortly after an unscheduled visit to the agency said that with the level of dedication to duty which he personally witnessed, he was convinced that the agency was working in line with the administration’s drive of providing efficient and affordable health for all Deltans. 

He commended the Chairman of the Agency, Dr. Isioma Okobah, for the milestones the agency was recording under her watch mostly in the improvement in the routine immunization as recorded during the just concluded quarterly review meeting by the National Primary Health Care Development Agency, Abuja. 

The scribe also noted the swift adoption of the National Policy of  Primary Health Care Under One Roof (PHCUOR), adding that the policy was geared towards international best practices based on the WHO guidelines stringed under one management, one plan and one monitoring and evaluation system. He said that the target of the PHCUOR was to reform and strengthen the state health sector by creating an integrated and decentralized management structure for primary health centres in line with the administration’s agenda. 

The Chairman noted that the visit showed the state government”s commitment towards the activities of the health sector especially the primary health care .Mrs. Okobah attributed the huge success of the routine immunization to the support given to it by the state Governor, Sen Ifeanyi Okowa and the passion and commitment of staff of the Agency as their dedication to duty spurred her to do more.
