Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai has warned the people of the state against reprisal attacks on the recent killings by unknown gunmen, urging them to be calm, as the government would fish out the perpetrators with a view to bringing them to book.

Besides, El-Rufai assured the families of the victims of the recent attacks in Birnin Gwari, Chikun, Kaura and Jema’a local government areas of justice, insisting that the perpetrators of crimes must be brought to book.

The governor warned against reprisals, while explaining that vengeance only serves to perpetuate the cycle of violence. A statement by his spokesperson, Samuel Aruwan, said El-Rufai commiserated with the families and said the government has set up a committee to meet with the victims and update them on arrests so far made, as well as the ongoing investigations into the attacks.

“The Kaduna State Government will continue to be focused and resolute in the pursuit of peace. This includes vigorous investigation and punishment of all those responsible for the killing of innocent citizens across the state.

“Government has equally set up a committee to go round and explain to aggrieved families and communities that the state is committed to ensure justice is done,” he said.
