Falomo Rotary club begins reading campaign in schools
The Rotary Club of Falomo has embarked on a reading campaign aimed at promoting the efficiency of students in the use of English language. At the inauguration of the campaign, which kicked off at Government Junior Secondary School in Victoria Island, the chartered president, Mr. Okaro, said over 100 students will be trained in the mastery of English in reading and writing.
Okaro, who said the training would run for three months, maintained that it was the little way the club could assist in ensuring that the leaders of tomorrow get a solid foundation. While also gifting the school with several educational materials, Okaro said the training would be continuous, as new sets of students would benefit from the scheme every three months.
Founder of Flip Book Foundation, Benita Nzeribe, encouraged the students to embrace the opportunity, saying: “There is no shame in not knowing how to read because sometimes the problem may not be from the student but as a result of poor academic foundation and not having good teachers.”
