Farmer joins Niger guber race
The Chairman, Rice Farmers Association, Niger State chapter, Alhaji Mahmood Sani, has declared intention to contest governorship position in the state.
He made this declaration in Bida on Friday at an event organised by committee of Inspirational Leadership Intervention, consisting nine local government areas that make up Niger South Senatorial District.
He said his focus would be on ending poverty and hunger through agriculture, adding that the state has abundant land and human resources needed to depend on agriculture.
He said: “Agriculture is the mainstay of our economy, and if we accord it the needed attention, it will contribute significantly towards reducing poverty and hunger, as well as boost the state’s internally generated revenue.”
