FG to spend over N100b on Northeast
The Federal Government is planning to spend over N100 billion on the reconstruction of the Boko Haram ravaged Northeast in 2017. The Presidential Committee on the Northeast Initiative (PCNI) Programmes Director, Muhammed Danjuma, disclosed this yesterday in Abuja at the Northeast Coordination Forum and PCNI dashboard launch.
He said the Federal Government is also going to execute about 21, 000 projects in the region. Danjuma noted that the dashboard will ensure the effective coordination of programmes and projects in the region, thereby ensuring the efficacy of interventions and mitigating duplication.
“The dashboard will track projects and interventions across the six states and 112 local governments areas in the Northeast zone. PCNI Vice Chairman, Mr. Tijani Tosa, noted that the scale of devastation wrought by the insurgency in the Northeast was unprecedented in the recent history of Nigeria.
