Five police job applicants arrested for forgery, theft

The police in Nasarawa have confirmed the arrest of five applicants during the ongoing police recruitment exercise in Lafia over forgery of certificates and theft.
The Commissioner of Police in charge of the exercise in the state, Alhassan Mamoda, made the disclosure to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Lafia.
According to him, four of the applicants were discovered to have forged their certificates in order to gain employment while the fifth was arrested for stealing a cell phone.
“Imagine someone who wants to join the police to protect lives and properties now stealing a handset at the venue of the screening exercise.
“He stole the handset and hid it in his pants and was discovered and apprehended in the cause of the investigation.
“They were all handed over to the appropriate department of the force for further investigation,” he said.
Mamoda also advised other applicants with criminal tendencies to desist as they would face the wrath of the law if caught.
The commissioner also disclosed that 5, 200 applicants of the 9,627 that applied from the state had so far been screened.

I urge the Nigeria Police to be extra careful in this recruitment exercise. Many of the certificates are either from Oluwole or some of this Principals of schools have taken gratification b4 issuing certificate to many of the applicants. Police should also go into details as many of this applicants are either using their brothers or friends certificate to enter into the force. There are vital questions that you ask them that they will fall by the way side. The IGP and the Police service commission headed by a renown and retired IGP Okiro should endeavour to ensure that what happen during OBJ 1999-2004 recruitment where many husbands lost their wives who are already 48years of age and they were allowed to enter into the force because of corruption in the Police then. Some of the women even attend the training with their sons and daughters while some are even senior to their mothers in the college. Also watch-out for those who are purely illiterate and cannot write their names talk-less of writting a statement or making an entry in the Police register. WATCH IT…….
