For efficiency, Ambode says organisations must build employees’ soft skills
…Charges Students To Shun Negative Values, Vices
Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode has said that organisations must help build the soft skills of its employees since it is a critical element for the attainment of the strategic objectives of organisations and government.
Speaking yesterday at the opening session of the two-day training programme tagged, ‘Changing attitude for improved performance for middle level officers’, Ambode, represented by the Commissioner for Establishment, Training and Pensions, Dr Akintola Benson Oke, said that though soft skills are less tangible, harder to quantify, challenging to teach and sometimes difficult to describe, they have to do with one’s attitude.
In related developments, Ambode yesterday advised students to fully embrace the opportunities being provided in the education sector and shun all negative values and vices that could hinder them from realising their dreams.
The Governor said his vision remained the building of great future, full of opportunities, through the provision of qualitative education that is consistent with the demands of the 21st century, and as such it was important for students to reciprocate by showing commitment to excellence.
Ambode, who spoke at the foundation laying ceremony of two additional Model Colleges in Yaba and Shomolu, recalled that since his assumption of office, efforts have been made through policies that place premium on education.
Speaking at Angus Memorial High School in Shomolu where he was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Tunji Bello, the Governor said the sustained efforts on education was already yielding results as the performance of students in the last West African Examination Council (WAEC) examination was assuring and an indication that the state was moving in the right direction.
