FORMER chairman of Ife-East Council, Osun and one-time governorship aspirant in the state, Mr. Gbenga Owolabi, has advised youths against the use of violence in resolving disputes. He said that to achieve this feat, the government must be able to allocate 50 per cent of its budget to ICT, education, sports, among others, to keep them away from the vice.

Speaking at an event organized in Lagos by Silverlining Concept, tagged: “Youth today, leaders tomorrow,” Owolabi, noted that the event was to enlighten the youth on their role in the society. He said they must be able to stand up and be counted when it matters.

Also, the Creative Director, Silverlining Concept, which organized the inter-school debate on youth violence, Mrs. Kemi Adekanmi, said the outfit, which started in 2008, organized the event to enlighten the youth that violence is not the best means of making their views known. She advised them that no matter their background, they should see “better youth” in themselves and engage in more productive ventures to enable them make the positive change that the society needs.
