To lay to rest claims that the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) is out to frustrate some states’ traffic agencies, the commission yesterday, said it was in support of the creation of counterpart traffic agencies by state governments to assist in arresting the growing carnage on roads.

The commission said much as the gesture is supported, such counter agencies must limit their operations to state roads in their domain.

This was the submission of the Head, Policy, Research and Statistics of the FRSC, Dr. Kayode Olagunju, in a press conference in Abuja, noting that the commission is committed to working with partners to ensure safety on roads across the federation.

Olagunju said to further cement the relationship with state agencies, the commission has concluded arrangements to hold its 6th FRSC Annual Lecture Series on Tuesday, in Abuja.

He said the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwumi Ambode would be the Guest Speaker at the lecture and would speak on State Road Traffic Management,-The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority [LASMA] experience.

He said the lecture would further encourage other states in the country yet to establish traffic agencies to do so without further delay.
