Governor Umar Abdullahi Ganduje has been named as head of a 63-member All Progressive Congress (APC)’s campaign council for the September 22 governorship poll.National Chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole, inaugurated Ganduje alongside members of the council comprising 13 governors of the party, national assembly members and ministers.

The 13 governors in the council are Abdulazeez Abubakar Yari, Deputy Chairman, Akinwunmi Dapo Ambode (Lagos), Senator Ibikunle Amosun (Ogun), Senator Abiola Ajimobi (Oyo), Rauf Aregbesola (Osun), and Olwarotimi Akeredolu (Ondo).Others include Rochas Okorocha (Imo), Godwin Obaseki (Edo), Yahaya Bello (Kogi), Simon Bako Lalong (Plateau), Kashim Shettima (Borno), Mohammed Umar Jibrilla (Adamawa), and Mohammed Badaru Abubakar (Jigawa).

Meanwhile, the National Working Committee (NWC) of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has clarified that Mr. Fatai Akinade Akinbade remains its governorship candidate, with retired Justice Folahanmi Olamide Oloyede, as deputy.

The National Publicity Secretary of the party, Mrs. Yemi Kolapo, said this in a statement yesterday. She said it was necessary to reaffirm the choice, particularly for the benefit of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and expressed concern about the omission of Oloyede’s name from the INEC’s candidates’ list.Concerned electorate had protested against the omission of the deputy governorship candidate from candidates’ list in the September 22, 2018 election.

She said: “The NWC of ADC is happy that the people of Osun State have, through this action, demonstrated their support for an amazon, who stood up for them, not minding negative implications on her life and career. They are ready to speak for her and the governorship candidate with their votes, come September 22.

“In view of this, we are emphasising, for clarity, that the candidates for governor and deputy governor of our party for the Osun governorship poll are Fatai Akinade Akinbade and Folahanmi Olamide Oloyede, and no political pranks can change this.”The ADC disclosed that INEC had affirmed its receipt of the party’s notification.
