Kano State Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje is set to unveil the name of his new deputy barely 48 hours after the former deputy governor, Prof. Hafizu Abubakar, tendered his resignation

Among those being considered for the position are Principal Secretary to the Governor, Ibrahim Kankarufi; Commissioner for Information, Muhammad Garba and Salisu Sagir Takai.

Others are Commissioner for Agriculture, Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna; former Senator Abdullahi Lado and a famous Islamic cleric, Ibrahim Khalid.

Besides, the governor yesterday condemned Abubakar’s claims of humiliation and injustices among reasons why he resigned.

A statement by Garba said Abubakar might have narrowly escaped his impeachable offences, having nursed the fear of his looming impeachment process already before the House of Assembly.

According to the statement, Ganduje said 30 out of the 40 legislators had planned to commence impeachment proceeding against the deputy governor over false, unfounded allegations and undermining the state government.

He insisted that Abubakar has no moral justification to remain in office, having publicly forsaken the present administration and swore allegiance to his political godfather, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
