GCU Old Boys’ annual dinner holds Saturday, October 7

The sixth Annual National Dinner Party of Government College Ughelli Old Boys Association (GCUOBA) holds at 6.00 p.m. on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at the Grand Ballroom, Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The sixth Annual National Dinner Party of Government College Ughelli Old Boys Association (GCUOBA) holds at 6.00 p.m. on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at the Grand Ballroom, Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The chairman of the occasion is Ambassador Christopher Kolade. The Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu and Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa are expected as special guests of honour. Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode is the chief host. The host is the President General of GCUOBA Worldwide, Prof Ogbemi Omatete.

Dr. Chris Uwaje, one of Nigeria’s ICT gurus, will give the keynote address on the “Critical Role of Information and Communication Technology and Innovation in Education – Imperative for Schools.”

A statement by the chairman of the GCUOBA National Dinner Organising Committee, Mr. Alfred Okoigun, said this year’s dinner will, as usual, feature lifetime achievement awards to distinguished old boys of the school.

Among those to be honoured are Ambassador Daniel Omatsone, Ambassador Edward Martins, Mr. Frank Longe, Prof. Olu Akinyanju, Chief Amos Olaniyan, Prof. Obaro Ikime, , Engrineer Guy Otobo and Dr. Titus Okereke. Chief Gray Longe, Mr Sam Akpe and Prof Alfred Opubor, among others, will be honoured posthumously.
