YOBE State Governor, Ibrahim Geidam, has signed the N89.93 billion 2016 budget into law, with an increase of capital expenditures to over N42.7 billion to complete ongoing projects in the state.

Signing the appropriation and financial bills at the weekend in Damaturu, Gaidam directed the state’s Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to “uphold the principles of probity and accountability,” while awarding contracts.

He said only reputable contractors should be engaged in the execution of government projects, so as to ensure quality work and get value for money in the implementation of the appropriation bill.

His words: “In order to achieve the desired objectives of this budget, and as part of our resolve to continue with our reform programmes, the monitoring mechanism will be strengthened.”

Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Alhaji Adamu Dala Dogo said there was an increase in the capital expenditure from N41.14 billion to N42.7 billion to complete all ongoing capital projects in the state.
