Enugu State Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi has endorsed a former Minister of Information, Chief Nnia Nwodo for Ohanaeze Ndigbo president general race.

Nwodo may however, slug it out with a former military governor of old Anambra State, Rear Admiral Allison Madueke (rtd) and the first Vice Chancellor of Anambra State University of Science and Technology, Prof. Eweite Ejike.

A new leadership for the apex Igbo socio-cultural organization would emerge January 9, when members of the body would elect those who would lead them for the next three years.

The development was the outcome of the enlarged Imeobi meeting held at the secretariat of Ohanaeze Ndigbo on Saturday.

Ugwuanyi had recently pronounced Nwodo as the choice of the state for the president-general position, explaining that his nomination was reached after a meeting of stakeholders.

According to the timetable released by the Prof. Anya O Anya electoral committee, approved by the Imeobi, elections will commence on January 6, with the election of the various local government officials to climax on Monday January 9, with the election of the president-general.
