THE Abia State government has abolished the problems of indiscriminate motor parks across the state, to ease the plight of transporters and commuter bus drivers.

Various stakeholders in the transport sector have applauded this move, which they described as a right move to emancipate transporters and reduce the indiscriminate levies imposed on them.

One of them, the General Manager of the state owned Abia State Transport Corporation (Abia Line), Mr. Ugochukwu Uwaeke, said the action has saved his company the sum of N17 million, which it usually paid annually on rented Loading Bases in Umuahia, the state capital.

Uwaeke, who told journalists that he was able to achieve such, due to the allocation of a befitting loading base to him by government, which has also placed the company in a better position to compete with other transporters.
