A group, Ife Klub 1, has called on government at all levels to come to the rescue of Ife/Hausa riot victims by assisting them to recover quickly from losses they have suffered.

The group also called on law enforcement agents to immediately arraign in court all those who were believed to have participated in the crisis.

Noting that the crisis in Ife is surprising given the age long harmonious relationship between the two communities, the group observed that security agencies did not respond timely.

Also speaking on the issue, the Apesin Oodua of the Source, Senator Iyiola Omisore, expressed utmost disbelief at the level of destruction and deaths that resulted from the communal clash, stating that Ife had been a very peaceful community, and for over a decade it has not witnessed communal feud that would result in unwarranted deaths and destruction.

“We have learnt to live in peace and harmony with our neighbours in Ife, the real reason for this feud is not yet clear to me.”
