Legal fireworks between Golden Touch Construction Company Limited and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged action of the commission restraining the construction company access to Guinea House on Marine Road, Apapa, will resume July 5, 2017 at a Federal High Court sitting in Asaba, Delta State.

At yesterday’s sitting, Justice Okon Abang explained to both parties that the new date was chosen after due consultation with counsels on both sides in light of the pending applications placed before the court.

Joined as Second, Third and Fourth defendants in the suit are the Delta State Government, Delta State Ministry of Lands and Survey and Delta State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, respectively.

The court admitted several documents after the counsel to the defendant expressed no objection to them. Mr. Chike Onyemenam (SAN), who stood in for Chief Anthony Idigbe (SAN), led the Company Secretary to the 1st Plaintiff, Mr. Onyeluka Ogbonoba, in evidence-in-chief.

Subsequently, Counsel to the EFCC, Steve Odiase Esq., questioned the authoritativeness of his evidence. However, the 1st plaintiff witness maintained that he was privy as company secretary to the entire process, adding that the proceeds for the acquisition of the said property were from businesses undertaken by the company.

Adjourning the case, the presiding Judge noted that all the parties to the dispute were in agreement.
