Wife of the Commissioner of Youths, Sports and Skills Acquisition in Zamfara State, Alhaji Abdullahi Gurbin Bore, and six children have been abducted by gunmen in the early hours of yesterday at Gurbin Bore village in Zurmi Local Government Area of the state.

The commissioner, who confirmed the attack to newsmen in Gusau, said the abductors took away his wife, three children (one year old twin babies and a girl) and three other relatives at about 1:30a.m. “They have not yet demanded for any ransom from us. In fact, we have not discussed anything with them, but we have reported the matter to security agencies,” he said.

“I was in Gusau, the state capital when the gunmen invaded my residence and made away with my family. I can’t precisely tell you their motive because they had earlier kidnapped one woman and her child,” he added.

Gurbin Baure is a border town situated along the Katsina-Zamfara border and on the other hand sharing boundary with Niger Republic.

Spokesman of the state police command, DSP Muhammad Shehu, said Search and Rescue Team had been dispatched by the command and intense manhunt for the kidnappers had commenced.

He said the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Kenneth Ebrimson, had spoken with his counterpart in Katsina state on the matter and the two commands are synergising to ensure that the victims are rescued hail and hearty.
