• As Erosion Separates Abia Communities
Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu has bemoaned the non-release of Ecological Fund to his state, which he claimed has prevented his government from attending to environmental disasters threatening and ravaging parts of the state.

Speaking at Ugwuaba in Isuikwuato Local Government, where gully erosion separated communities, the governor with some top government officials met members of the affected communities.

Sympathising with the communities and commuters, Ikpeazu said the state government lacked the financial capacity to address the gully erosion, hence the need to draw Federal Government’s attention to the plight of the people.

He was worried that ecological fund had not been released to the state since 2015. He however assured the affected communities that his government would quickly intervene by doing the needful within its capacity to check further threat.

He, therefore, directed the State Ministry of Environment to collaborate with Isuikwuato Local Government to create a diversion off the gully erosion area.
