To boost economic growth and development, the Federal Government has been advised to fast track the implementation process of the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (ERGP) to achieve a higher economic growth.

The Senior Representative and Mission Chief for Nigeria Department, International Monetary Fund (IMF), Amine Mati, yesterday in Abuja at the international conference of Social Sciences organised by NILE University, said that the Federal Government must put plans in place so as to achieve a higher growth compared to the 0.8 per cent observed in 2017.

He said: “For Nigeria to grow, the government must start the implementation of its ERGP. There are several priorities like increasing revenue growth from 5 to 15 per cent, having unified exchange rate, addressing the structural gap, strengthening the anti-corruption effort with financial inclusion.”

Also, Debra Carnahan who is a retired judge in the United States said that for Nigeria to grow as a country, there is need for independent judges who can do their jobs without interference from the executives.

Carnahan added that the Africa continent, with its population and resources has a lot to offer in development of the world if women are encouraged in political participation and other fields.

On his part, Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly, Ita Enang urged Nigerians to become politically and socially active by making demands from their state governors, who according to him has the bulk of responsibility to cater for them.
