Imo police arrest 31 suspected cult members
Operatives of the Imo State Police Command have arrested 31 suspected cult members, most of them students of Imo State University, Owerri.
A statement from the Command yesterday said the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Chris Okey Ezike, coordinated the operation.
The statement said the Orji Divisional Headquarters had received a distressed call on May 10 and swooped on the suspects at Comprehensive Secondary School, Orji, noting that exhibits, such as three vehicles used in conveying the members to the initiation ground, were recovered from them.
Other items recovered include red caps used in identifying their members, laptops and phones.
According to Ezike, the suspects would be charged to the court as soon as the State Criminal Intelligence Investigation Department (SCIID) concludes screening and investigations.
