Indigent residents get N160M from Lagos

Lagos State Government has revealed that about 1477 indigent and needy residents have benefited from the N163, 258, 980 disbursed by her to provide financial succour to individuals with genuine challenges.

Lagos State Government has revealed that about 1477 indigent and needy residents have benefited from the N163, 258, 980 disbursed by her to provide financial succour to individuals with genuine challenges.

The persons, the state government revealed, were people with challenges in the area of health, accommodation, education, multiple birth and unforeseen incidents such as fire outbreak and road accidents. The Special Adviser on Civic Engagement, Hon Kehinde Olaide Joseph revealed this while giving account of stewardship by his office.

Meanwhile, the Lagos State Government has warned the general public to henceforth desist from assaulting its officials or face the wrath of the law.

Giving this warning was the State Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Akinyemi Ashade, while reacting to a report of assault of a Land Use Charge field officer on duty at No 9, Mologede Street Meiran in Ayobo-Ipaja area of the State.

According to the report, Usuaulele Ernest and his sister, Usuaulele Jessica beat up the officer and destroyed his camera while taking the photograph of a bill posted on the property as part of the evidence of notice served on the property as demanded by Law.

The Commissioner warned that the State Government would not hesitate to deal with anybody obstructing its officials in the performance of their duty within the provisions of the law.
