The Ogun State Police Command has recaptured a suspected female kidnap kingpin, who allegedly broke the jail in Oyo prison and escaped. The Commissioner of Police, Abdulmajid Ali, paraded the suspect, 33-year-old Adebisi Babatunde before newsmen at the office of the State Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).

The suspect was a member of a notorious kidnapping syndicate who kidnapped a businessman in Abeokuta one year ago. Their gang successfully secured N10million ransom from their captor’s family.

Adebisi and the native doctor who prepared charm for the gang was captured by detectives in Ogun and jailed while other members of the syndicate escaped with their loot.

According to the suspect, “I was married with three children, but my husband died in a car accident. I am an ‘Agbo’ seller from Ibadan, so some Igbo guys came to me to do juju for them that would help them carry out kidnapping successfully without being caught.

“I took them to my native doctor. The baba produced the charm for them. They went and carried out the operation and made big money. They gave me N750,000. The man they kidnapped was one Mr. Bode Debo and I learnt that they were paid a ransom of N10million from the operation. I was cheated by my gang.

“I planned to open a shop with my share of the money. My gang members ran away but myself and the native doctor were arrested. We have been in jail for over one year awaiting trial in Oyo prison when myself and my female friend broke jail with a master-key and ran away.”

Ogun police boss said his men are still on the trail of the escapees and pledged that the suspect would be charged to court for jail breaking and kidnapping.
