Following the heavy rainstorm yesterday in Kebbi State, four students of Federal Government Girls College, Gwandu have been hospitalised, while over two hundred of them were rendered homeless.

Confirming the news to newsmen yesterday in Birnin Kebbi, Principal of the School, Hajiya Hadiza Eliyakubu said the incident happened in the evening after experience a heavy rainstorm in Gwandu town, Kebbi state.

She said the rain and strong wind destroyed almost all the structures of the school, bringing studies to a halt as the students scurried to salvage what remained of their property.

She said the issue has been reported to the authorities concerned while measures would be taken to ensure the safety of the lives of the students.

Chairman of Gwandu, Alhaji Sheahu Farok Danlija who expressed sympathy while on a condolence visit to school assured the school authorities that they would take up the medical bills of the affected students while government would also be speedily informed for further assistance.
