The Kebbi State government yesterday, organised a five-day training on teaching skills and methods for 200 teachers across the state. Held at the Waziri Umar Federal Polytechnic Hall, Birnin Kebbi, the event aimed at improving quality in the education system and keeping teachers abreast on their civic responsibilities. It also sought to sanitise the sector.

The workshop targeted teachers of Hausa, French and Arabic languages; Islamic Religious Knowledge, Christian Religious Knowledge; and Mathematics and English.

Briefing journalists shortly after the closing ceremony, the state Commissioner for Education, Alhaji Mohammad Makawata Aliero, urged the teachers to extend the knowledge they had acquired to the students and be role models in their various schools.

Speaking through his Permanent Secretary, Hajiya Rafatu Garba Hammani, the commissioner said that the government was determined to revive education in the state and maintain high standards by having qualified teachers and producing the best students.

In her remark, Director of Education Resources Center, Hajiya Asumau Alkali, said her staff appreciated the efforts of the government in helping the ministry to boost functional education.
