Kehinde desperately needs N400,000 for surgery

An unemployed father of six-year-old Kehinde Abdul-Raheem, Mr. Isiaka Yusuf, 51, is seeking the assistance of well-meaning Nigerians for an urgent surgery for his twin-child, Kehinde, who has an appointment with the surgeon today at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, Oyo State.

Kehinde has hydrocephalus (water in the head) ailment and cannot sit or walk. He had earlier undergone a surgery at UCH, but series of tests done on him months after show that the surgery done had blocked and he needs to undergo another operation today.

According to the father, it is somewhat degrading to publish one’s child’s picture in the newspapers begging for money, but “I am left with no other choice as I am desperately seeking for means to save my son’s life.”

“All attempts to raise money within have not been successful, while the child’s health has continued to deteriorate in the past one week. Thus, I have to put aside my ego to beg for funds for his treatment. I am an educated person, but when the job was not forthcoming, I had to start selling recharge cards, in addition to learning printing job.

“My wife, who is an auxiliary nurse, is being owed months of salaries. We had to stop the education of his elder brothers because things are very tough. Against people’s advice that we should abandon the boy somewhere, we have resolved to beg to save him. He urgently needs an estimate of N400,000 for surgery at UCH,” he said.
