THE Kwara State House of Assembly Committee on Ethics, Privileges, Public Petitions and Judiciary has summoned the state Police Commissioner to explain before it the alleged incessant harassment and extortion of road users along Adeta and Adewole roundabout areas of Ilorin by some of his men and officers.

This followed a Matter of General Public Importance raised by a member representing Ilorin North West Constituency Alhaji AbdulRafiu AbdulRahman over the alleged incessant harassment and extortion of road users at the areas.

To appear before the House Committees alongside the Commissioner of Police were the Area Commander and Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Adewole Area of the ancient town.

The Deputy Speaker Mathew Okedare, who presided over the sitting, said the appearance of the Commissioner and other hierarchy of the paramilitary unit would help to curb the excesses of some bad eggs in the Police Command in the state.
