Lagos CP orders deployment of officers to ease traffic, and commissions new LASEMA Response Unit

To ensure free-flow of traffic across the metropolis, Lagos State Commissioner of Police (CP), Mr. Imohimi Edgal has ordered the deployment of police officers across the state to control traffic.

To ensure free-flow of traffic across the metropolis, Lagos State Commissioner of Police (CP), Mr. Imohimi Edgal has ordered the deployment of police officers across the state to control traffic.

In the past few days, traffic situation had worsened in some areas due to increase in social activities owing to the Yuletide as well as construction works being carried out by the state government.

A statement, yesterday, by the Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Police Command, SP Chike Oti, said having been aware of the traffic situation, the CP has already directed that immediate steps be taken to ameliorate the situation to ensure seamless connectivity across the state.



According to Oti: “He has also directed the State Traffic Officer (STO), SP. Margaret Okonkwo to collaborate with the General Manager of Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Mr. Olawale Musa, to achieve this objective.” 



While wishing all Lago residents a happy Yuletide, the CP also assured residents of security of lives and property this season and beyond.He urged the people to report any suspicious activities around them to law enforcement agents.

Also, Lagos State Government will tomorrow commission another Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) Response Unit on Ikorodu Road, by Fadeyi Bus Stop, Onipanu and its environs.

The General Manager, LASEMA, Adesina Tiamiyu disclosed this yesterday at the Command and Control Centre Alausa, Ikeja. According to him, “This administration is committed to ensuring safety of lives and property of Lagos residents, hence the creation of additional Response Units in strategic locations in the state towards sustained intervention to all forms of emergencies or disasters”.He further stated that the unit, which has just been completed and equipped, would be commissioned tomorrow Governor Akinwunmi Ambode .
