In order to nip in the bud crack in the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), leaders from the Epe division have appealed to members in the area to close ranks and help Governor Akinwunmi Ambode develop the state.

The stakeholders included Senator Gbenga Ashafa, leader of the Lagos East senatorial district, Otunba Bushura Alebiosu, Omooba Sosanya, Alhaji Ganiyu Ogungbo, former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Prince Abiodun Ogunleye, Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun, Senator Anthony Adefuye, Alhaji Shakirudeen Anifowoshe, Chief Lanre Razaq and Mr. Joko Pelumi.

After a meeting, where issues relating to the progress of the district, its residents and the fortunes of the party were discussed, the stakeholders said it was necessary to stand firmly behind the national leader of the APC, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and ensure Governor Ambode’s second term in 2019.

A statement signed by the General Secretary, Mr. Joke Pelumi, reads in part: “The apex body commiserated with the party leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the loss of his son, Babajide Abdulkazeem Tinubu. We express our sympathy and also pray for his family. We also commend the exemplary performance of Governor Ambode.”

It noted that the aim and objective of the apex body in convening the meeting was to foster unity among all groups in the APC, within the Lagos East Senatorial District, in line with the desire of Tinubu to have all sub-groups collapsed into one body in order to present a strong, united and formidable party in the district at all times.

Meanwhile, The Guardian gathered that the apex group, which met yesterday comprised the original leaders of the APC, who had been operating under the name Governor Advisory Council (GAC) with Tinubu, since the days of Alliance for Democracy (AD), Action Congress (AC), and Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) before the transformation to APC.
