The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has advised Nigerians to look beyond their political differences for the country to make progress.

Mohammed made the call when he with four other ministers paid a courtesy call on the Akwa Ibom Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel, in Uyo on Monday.

The other ministers were Mr Rotimi Amaechi (Transportation, Mr Usani Uguru Usani (Niger Delta Affairs), Mrs Amina Mohammed (Environment), and Mr Budget and National Planning.

Mohammed said they were in the state to conduct the South-South Town Hall Meeting, an interaction forum between government and the people on different sectors of the economy.

The meeting will sensitise the people to what government is doing, the challenges it is facing and the way forward as well as provide a platform for meaningful interaction with citizens,’’ he said.

According to the minister, the meeting is part of measures by the Federal Government to communicate policies, programmes and activities of the present administration to the people.

He described Akwa Ibom as the most peaceful state in the South-South and applauded the state governor for his hospitality.

Receiving the ministers, Emmanuel commended the idea of a town hall meeting.

According to Emmanuel, the meeting will help publicise government’s policies and clarify issues on its activities and programmes.
