The Lagos State House of Assembly member representing Ikorodu Constituency 1, Sanai Oyediran Bolanle (SOB) Agunbiade, has empowered 252 youths drawn from Ikorodu Local Government, Ikorodu West Local Council Development Area (LCDA) and Ikorodu North LCDA, who are currently undergoing three months intensive training in Desktop Publishing and Graphic Designing at three different computer institutes.

The best three, according to him will at the end of the training, in addition to being presented with Computer set each, will get connected for employment.

At the feedback session held at Ikorodu town hall, to commemorate the first year of the 8th Assembly and account of his stewardship, Agunbiade noted that the training is in its sixth edition, saying 130 benefited from the first edition, 120, for the second, 125 for third, 131 for fourth and, 125 for the fifth edition.

“In the last one year, commencing from June 8, 2015, I have empowered 31 youths with employment; three youths from the constituency were empowered with the sum of N200, 000 each, to improve their businesses in the area of entertainment. A group of talented youth was empowered with a complete set of Musical instruments, who voluntarily rebrand their band as Onward Brass Brand. (OBB).

“With the assistance of Wema Bank Plc., I assisted 100 market men and women with interest-free loan of N50, 000, for four months tenure. The total sum of N5m was dispensed on April 29, 2016. That is the fifth edition. In the first edition, 100 people benefited, in the second edition, 150 people benefited, in the third, 150 people benefited, in the fourth edition, 160 people benefited (including 20 beneficiaries from each of the Community Development Council (CDC). So far, 660 market men and women have benefited from the free interest loan since I assumed the representation of Ikorodu Constituency 1.”

During the feedback session, another group of 100 persons, all members of the Lagos State Tradesmen and Artisans (LASCOTA), comprising 21 Trade Unions, benefitted from another N5m, Free Interest-Loan Scheme.

As a practical commitment to the security of lives and properties in the area, the majority leader donated materials, which includes 45 operational jacket and five branded motorbikes for the use of Onyabo, a local security apparatus in Ikorodu.
