Lokoja APC Challenges Senate Over Kogi Assembly Impasse
The All Progressive Congress (APC) Lokoja Local Government chapter has rejected the House of Representatives resolution to take over the state’s House of Assembly functions.
The Party described the report of the ad hoc committee upon which it hinged its decision to take over the functions of the state Assembly as “false to the extreme.”
A communique read to journalists at the end of the party’s stakeholders meeting held yesterday in Lokoja said that by virtue of section 11 (4) and (5) of the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended, the National Assembly could come in to legislate for the state only when the state is in crisis and the House of Assembly can no longer sit or transact business.
