Catholic Archbishop of Lagos, Alfred Adewale Martins has called on Christians to engage in politics and seek to serve in political offices as it is the way to bring the values of the faith to bear on the political activities in the nation.

He made this call at a press briefing to mark his 59th birthday celebration, which held at the Holy Cross Cathedral, in Lagos.

According to him, “The whole nation is preparing for the 2019 elections, we urge all our people to make efforts to register and get voters cards. This is the tool that we need in order to choose those that will serve our country selflessly and meet the needs of the common man.”

Martins added that they are aware of the difficulties that people have in registering and getting their card, which he is also facing. “We urge you to preserve, we have directed our JDPC team to take stock of the problem and get data that shows the difficulties that people are going through and call attention to the critical areas.”
